Spelling an end to year-long waiting of movie buffs and cinephiles, the much-fanfared epic film, Baahubali, released this Friday, advancing its avenues into the public. Unlike it is being heard from a number of sources, the flick is not just a show of shining armours, sharp swords, beefed up bodies, huge sets and impressive visual effects. It’s much more.

First of all, Keeravaani’s background score that enthrals the audience is a plus point for the movie. Meticulously tuned situational songs gloss the drama filled with quick transition of scenes.

Locations chosen for shoot adorn the movie as the scenes shot in the lap of nature especially at Athirappilly Water Falls give an aesthetic sense and the same suited well for showing adventures of Prabhas and the pulchritude of Tamannaah where the latter looks like an angel descended from the heaven.

Here, the role of female protagonist Tamannaah is a crucial one, not set just to showcase her beauty but also bravery. Heroic of acts of the heroine are on par with those of the male protagonist, Prabhas. And the same is true in the case of Rana, Anushka, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj and Sudeep.

One of the most positive aspects of movie is that the power of both Prabhas and Rana is equally portrayed and perfectly demonstrated with the help of a few creative sequences. The cunningness and cruelty of Rana are shown in a different style and the same reflect in his dialogues whereas Prabhas is depicted as a kind-hearted and merciful person. Moreover, the difference between the wisdom of Prabhas and Rana are clearly shown on the battlefield and leadership qualities of the male protagonist are shown at appropriate intervals.

All the lead actors in the film have done justice to their roles. Tamannaah’s action was so marvellous in certain scenes that Mahishmathi kingdom’s introduction scene seems less effective when compared to her emotional conversation that precedes it.

There is a lack of reality at a few instances. Tamannaah should have been more deglamourized in order to make her appearance suitable for her role. In a similar way, Anushka’s outfits were designed appropriately but make-up is not up to the mark.

Adivi Sesh’s role is a very shorter and less important one when compared to other lead actors. The language spoken by Kalakeyas, the enemies of Mahishmathi rulers, was not perfectly narrated as it doesn’t seem to be an Indian language. Moreover, dialogues delivered by Prabhakar in that language look artificial as he doesn’t speak fluently. It’s a known fact that generally humans can speak fluently in their respective mother tongues.

The interesting romantic scenes featuring Prabhas and Tamannaah are of a new kind while coordination between Prabhas and Rana in dealing with the statecraft is worth watching.

Most of the action sequences are meaningful as they do not exaggerate the power of a human, especially hero, while fighting his enemies.

The efforts of Sabu Cyril and Peter Hein are appreciable and visual effects are magnificent.

Rajamouli’s mark is clearly visible in some elements like weaponry and war strategies reflect his brilliance. Science and technology, in both mechanical and chemical forms, is applied in designing war equipment and chariots.

Though there are a few imperfect elements in the film, a number of new and interesting characteristics make it worth watching.
